Today's strong winds contributed to a 45-acre brush fire on Windy Gap Mountain, but it was controlled within 90 minutes this afternoon.
Officials say someone was burning trash and the wind blew the fire into leaves and brush.
A downhill wind kept the fire away from houses.
The forestry department bulldozed a road around the fire to contain it.
Starting this Sunday you can only burn between 4 p-m and midnight when the air is typically more moist.

A Henry County man accused of murder, and shooting at a deputy, was planning another crime, according to witnesses in court today.
The testimony came at the preliminary hearing for Clyde Howard, Junior.
Howard was a fugitive for a week last year, after the fatal shooting of James Stanley Taylor.
Howard's son and sister both testified today that Howard stole a car in North Carolina, and some guns, for a bank holdup.
The judge ruled there's enough evidence to send this on to the grand jury.

State investigators want to know what a local Moose Lodge has done with more than 200-thousand dollars of bingo money that's allegedly unaccounted for.
Agents from the Charitable Gaming Commission acted on a tip and executed a search warrant last month at Moose Lodge-715 on Lakeside Drive in Lynchburg.
They also searched the home of the Lodge's bookkeeper on Fort Avenue.
An audit of the Lodge's financial records could not verify where an estimated 214-thousand dollars went.

The prosecutor says felony abduction and grand larceny charges will be dismissed... though the misdemeanor case against Nicolas De Sarno still stands .

The case was the result of a performance at the frat house last year where a dispute arose between members of the fraternity and an exotic dancer from Roanoke.
