One person's burning trashpile turned into a 45-acre brush fire on Windy Gap Mountain this afternoon.

Firefighters from four squads got it under control within an hour and a half.
The forestry department bulldozed a road around the fire to contain it.
Wind blew the fire down the mountain, away from homes.
As of Monday you can burn only between four p-m and midnight when the air is typically more moist.

When a sheriff's deputy from North Carolina found the stolen car just a few miles over the border in Spencer, Virginia, he also discovered Jimmy Taylor, shot dead in his pickup truck.
That discovery lead police on a week-long manhunt for Howard, that eventually ended with his surrender.
The judge agreed to move this case forward to a grand jury, which is set to convene April 5th.

Sheriff's officials say the extra help is a necessity due to the high volume of traffic that passes through along Interstates 77 and 81.
According to one estimate, 57-thousand vehicles a day travel Wythe County's highways.

He's charged with indecent exposure and sexual battery.

State gambling officials are looking into what a local Moose Lodge has done with more than 200- thousand dollars worth of bingo money.
