Now that the President has been acquitted on Impeachment charges both sides say it's time to more on.

After more than a year of scandal and scrutiny, the President of the United States held on to his office.

All the Democrats, and a number of Republicans, voted against the articles of impeachment...with neither article winning even a simple majority of votes.
It was a contrite and forward-looking President who appeared later at the White House.

Mr. Clinton also called for reconciliation and renewal.

The Senate Majority Leader said he was not worried about any backlash from the voters.

One Virginia Senator crossed party lines with his Senate Vote.
Republican John Warner voted "Not Guilty" on the perjury count, but he voted "Guilty" regarding obstruction of justice.
Democrat Chuck Robb voted "Not Guilty" on both counts.

These were Robb's first public statements about the president's guilt or innocence. Even though he voted not quilty he insists that this day did not vindicate the president. John Warner on the other hand has expressed deep disappointment in the Presdent so it was somewhat of a surprise that he did not find him quilty of pergery.
THIS IS QUITE DIFFICULT FOR ME, BECAUSE I WAS PRIVELEDGED TO BE CHAIRMAN OF THE INAUGUARATION. AND I STOOD NO FURTHER THAN YOU AND I ARE STANDING NOW, WITH THE CHEIF JUSTICE, THE SAME OFFICER WHO PRESIDED OVER THIS TRIAL WHEN HE TOOK THAT OATH, WHICH I NOW FIND HE VIOLATED.
Warner says the nation's focus must now be on healing, to preserve our strength as a nation in the eyes of the world. For John Warner who over came a tough battle from within his own party to win reelection in 1996 until 2002, and who just took over a powerful Senate committee, there may be few political consequences left to fear. One man was killed early this morning when his car hit a freightliner tractor trailer headon in Bland County It happened around 3 o'clock in the South Gap area when the driver of a 1998 Ford F-150 crossed the median and struck the tractor-trailer. Police say it took over an hour to get the victim out of his vehicle. There was substantial damage to the tractor-trailer as well. The driver of the rig received minor injuries and was taken to Wythe Community hospital. Police have not yet released the names.

Dry woods and a strong wind turned a burning trashpile into a 45-acre brush fire.

Fortunately the wind was blowing DOWN Windy Gap Mountain yesterday, keeping the fire away from homes.
It took firefighters from several squads about an hour and a half to control it.
Starting Sunday you can only burn from 4 p-m to midnight when the air is typically more moist.

Another fire damaged a home in Vinton.

Fire broke out in the basement of the house at 828 Finney Drive yesterday afternoon, and spread to the upper floors.
Firefighters found smoke and flames coming from the back of the building when they arrived; they had it under control in a short time.
No one was hurt.
The cause of the fire hasn't been determined.

A Roanoke man wanted for setting a deadly fire has been apprehended in Colorado.
Police say David Lee Griffin was picked up on a disorderly conduct charge outside of Denver.

Griffin is accused of setting fire to a house in northeast Roanoke about 18 months ago.
The fire killed his roommate, James Cline.
Police are going to Colorado to bring Griffin back for trial.

He's accused of killing a Henry County farmer who was taking his granddaughter out for a ride in his pickup truck.

After a preliminary hearing today, the 11- criminal charges against Clyde Howard Junior will now go to a grand jury.

Among those charges, Howard faces first degree murder for killing James Stanley Taylor and attempted capital murder for shooting at a sheriff's deputy in his car.
The Commonwealth's Attorney presented evidence that Howard stole several guns from his former landlord.
Howard's sister and son both testified that he stole a car in North Carolina to use in a bank robbery.

Authorities believe Howard shot Jimmy Taylor when Taylor discovered the stolen car on his property in Spencer.
It was a sheriff's deputy from North Carolina who discovered the victim's pickup truck.

Howard led police on a week-long manhunt after the murder, but eventually surrendered.
The judge agreed to move the case forward to a grand jury, which is set to convene April 5th.

Most of the oil on a grounded tanker has burned away but the ecological damage has yet to be determined.

About 90 percent of the fuel on New Carissa has been burned out of the ship but the existing oil still threatens wildlife.
The ship ran aground off the Oregon coast with nearly 400-thousand gallons of oil on board.
Bomb experts set fire to the ship Thursday night to prevent a massive oil spill onto Oregon's beaches.
But the remaining oil still could reach all the way to Washington state and even Canada.
The damage can't fully be determined yet.
The underwater oil is especially dangerous to Oysters and Clams.

The president fared pretty well. The public continues to believe that Clinton can with stand the controversy and do an effective job.

A Dallas judge has order the pilots back to work, but yesterday about a quarter of the company's pilots stilled called in sick.
Over a thousand flights had to be scrapped and about a half a million travelers were stranded.

For early risers, the Hoernleins often leave a pot of coffee outside the door....and breakfast times are flexible.

A five- course Saturday night dinner is served by candlelight, at private tables for two.
There are five guest rooms, each decorated in a romantic, floral pattern with antique furnishings.
Some rooms include a two- person Jacuzzi tub, fireplace, and an entertainment center.
Weekend rates start at 135- dollars a night, and it helps to book early.

This time every year, the tiny post office in Valentines is swamped by up to 50- thousand extra pieces of mail.. all of them Valentines Day cards looking for that little special touch.
Postmaster Willie Wright and his staff put in long hours applying a special cachet he designed and the local Valentines postmark to each card and letter.
It's hard work, but not without its rewards.
