A couple of recruiters for Carilion Health System have allegedly defrauded Carilion out of nearly half a million dollars.
In 1995, Carilion hired Cathy Fulton to help the company find new physicians.
She was allowed to collect a fee for each new recruit, plus expenses.
According to the government's information, Fulton and Teresa Duggan submitted more than 170 phony invoices in a little over a year.
They're now scheduled to plead guilty to fraud and conspiracy in federal court Friday.[(toss to R)]

Cookin' Cheap host and former Roanoke special events coordinator Laban Johnson died today.

Johnson failed to show up for a taping session at Blue Ridge Public Television this afternoon.
Station employees went to his apartment to check on him, and found he was dead.
Johnson had some health problems in the past few years, and his popular syndicated cooking show with Larry Bly had just started a new season.
Johnson was also well known for his radio work, and was a teacher in the Roanoke school system.
