After holding officers at bay for hours, a Henry County man is behind bars this morning.
56- year old John Joseph Nemeth (NEE-MYTH) was arrested without incident following an armed standoff with sheriff's deputies.

It happened last night on the Joseph Martin Highway in the Rich Acres section of Henry County.
The Sheriff's Office received a call from Nemeth's family saying he was threatening to kill himself.
Shortly after deputies arrived at the scene, Nemeth flashed a rifle.

Captain Nester says Nemeth may have both physical and mental health problems.
He is charged with brandishing a firearm, which is a misdemeanor.
No one was hurt in the incident.

An ice pick or a screwdriver was probably used to kill a Danville woman last weekend.
That's according to the medical examiner who completed an autopsy yesterday on the body of Tammy Marie Blair.

Danville's Life Saving Crew found Blair in her home on Milton Avenue early Sunday morning.
She suffered from a puncture wound to the chest.
Neighbors say she had lived there with her boyfriend for about nine months.

The case of a woman who is accused in a murder- for- hire scheme is now in the hands of a grand jury, after a brief preliminary hearing.

Peggy Jo Sullivan was arrested after she allegedly tried to hire an undercover officer to kill her former boyfriend.
The conversation took place in January in the parking lot of a Dublin fast food restaurant.

That same night, two homemade pipe bombs were found inside Sullivan's pickup truck.
Yesterday's preliminary hearing didn't take long.
Sullivan stipulated the evidence against her was sufficient so the judge merely forwarded the charge to a grand jury.
