Two people are in custody and a third is being sought in connection with the armed robbery of a motel in Wythe County ten days ago.

Late last night, police in North Wilkesboro, North Carolina apprehended 25- year- old Channing Forrest Sine and his wife Angela Jean Sine.
A third suspect who has "not" been named is still at large.

Former Liberty High School student Jamelle (juh-MELL) Poindexter reportedly pleaded for his life just before he was shot to death in September.
That's according to a Lynchburg newspaper.

Police have charged Randy Ross with capital murder and Keirstin (Keer-sten) Davis with first degree murder in connection with the shooting.
According to transcripts from a joint hearing, a wounded Poindexter pleaded for help just before one of the teens reportedly shot him several times in the head.
Both teens are now awaiting trial.
If convicted Ross could get the death penalty.

A man was struck and killed by a car last night in Roanoke County.

The accident happened shortly before 9-30.
Roanoke County police say 40-year old Steven Akers of Roanoke was trying to cross Route 4-19, when he was hit by a white Volkswagen traveling northbound.
Akers was prounounced dead at the scene.
Charges have not yet been filed against the driver. Police say speed was NOT a factor.

Investigators looking into Monday's Amtrak crash want to know where the fuel spill came from.

When the crash occurred, fuel ignited and burned the sleeper car where all the victims were killed.
The train's state-of-the-art armored fuel tanks aren't supposed to leak in a crash, and investigators originally thought the fuel tanks were intact... but they don't know where the spilled fuel came from, so they're taking another look at the tanks.
Meanwhile a witness has reportedly come forward, telling investigators he SAW a tractor trailer pull around the lowered crossing gates into the path of the train.

The girls were part of a mass exodus from Viet Nam in 1986, but it took their parents much longer to get clearance for their own emigration to the United States.
