John Warner and Chuck Robb were among the 58 Senators who approved the plan.
The House of Representatives did not vote on the issue, but in interviews Representative Rick Boucher said an air strike is the United States' best alternative.
But Virgil Goode and Bob Goodlatte said they would NOT have supported air strikes if the House was asked to vote.

In the end, Pleasant Hill residents accepted the inevitability of the of the new school and traffic and asked instead for some relief and protection-- like a traffic light and more access roads.
But that's a problem because if county officials add more access roads, V-DOT will NOT approve a traffic light.... and by itself, the Pleasant Hill intersection doesn't qualify under V-DOT guidelines.
In the end supervisors removed some restrictions on the permit which will allow school officials to add more access roads to the site, AFTER a traffic light is built.
