A tractor trailer accident in Bedford County has killed one person and caused a fuel leak.

State police say the driver lost control while rounding a corner along Route 24 and flipped over.
The impact cut open part of the tanker, and the truck began leaking diesel fuel.
The leak is not a fire hazard.
Route 24 near Headen's Bridge Road, is closed in both directions. A detour has been set up.

David Lee Fisher arranged the murder of another man while on a hunting trip in Bedford County- -to collect on an insurance policy Fisher had taken out on

Fisher was sentenced to die in 1987, after the trigger man testified against him.

Just moments a go a jury found Dr Jack Kevorkian guilty of second degree murder.

That verdict came today from a jury in Pontiac, Michigan. Kevorkian was charged in the death of Thomas Youk (yowk), a man who had Lou Gehrig's disease. Kevorkian was also convicted of delivery of a controlled substance. He acted as his own attorney during the trial, but today announced that he was no longer doing so. This was the second day of deliberations.

The state Department of Health is adding to the list of contaminated fish found in a 50 mile stretch of the Roanoke River.

Recent samples of Smallmouth bass, channel catfish, and flathead catfish were found to contain high levels of P-C-B's.
Striped bass, white bass and carp were already on the list.
The Department of Health says people should NOT eat these types of fish if taken from Seneca Creek at Route 704 near Long Island to Route 803 in Halifax County. Advisory signs are posted along the sites.
PCB's are believed to cause cancer in humans.

Rezulin can improve the symptoms of diabetes patients who haven't responded to the ususal courses of treatment.
It can also reduce the chance of cardio-Vascular disease which is a frequent killer of diabetics.

The Food and Drug Administration held an unusual meeting today to consider the safety of the drug.
