Jurors found Bud Pritchett guilty of first degree murder, but they're still considering the punishment that Pritchett should face.

A Lynchburg teenager is facing more than 53 years in prison for a drug- related murder last May.

19-year old Dale Lee Pughsley (PUGS-lee) was convicted of second degree murder today for the shooting death of David W. Robertson.
Police say Robertson was trying to buy crack from Pughsley when Pughsley shot him in the back of the head.
This was Lynchburg's first capital murder trial in six years.
Pughsley will be sentenced May 14th.

A guilty plea today from a woman who was about to stand trial for the beating death of an elderly Roanoke County man.

Barbara Jean Anderson of Martinsville was set to go on trial next week in the death of James Beane.
But she decided to plead guilty today, to first degree murder.
Anderson beat the 88-year-old man with an iron poker, at his home near Cave Spring Corner in 1997.

According to one couple some students are learning about witchcraft at a Lexington school.
It's a problem we first told you about a few months ago that centers around two books several fifth graders at Harrington Waddell Elementary School are required to read.

A school committee recently reviewed the Joyce's complaints but refused to remove the books.
Instead they agreed to give parents teacher's required reading lists well in advance and emhpasized that parents could make substitutes for books they found objectionable.

All of the postseason all-state teams in the commonwealth have been announced, and our end of the state cleaned up.
Glenvar's Art Lawrence, Salem's Charlie Morgan and Cave Spring's Linda Long each won coach of the year honors.
And Glenvar's Brian Fasnacht earned player of the year honors in Group A.

And tonight, we get a representative on the boy's Triple-A all-state squad as George Washington high school's Jerrian Younger makes the team.
Younger led the Eagles to a state title last year, and the state semi-finals this season.

((Head coach Scott Gordon's 20 player playoff roster must be submitted by Monday at 1pm. 19 year old OHL scorer Chad Spurr is one of three new Express additions, meaning Gordon must cut three. Gordon.....says he will decide sometime Friday. ((:)) Despite a separated shoulder an a concussion, Kris Cantu will obviously be on the playoff roster. His temporary replacement on the high octane line that has produced 133 points, look for Spurr to be there. ((MIKE PERON:))
The Brophy bonanza should reach an all time high Friday night. Express owners and the franchise's marketing staff met Tuesday night to form a strategy. The outcome, two thousand buttons with John Brophy's face crossed out with the slogan just say no that will be handed out at the game. ))

At the Padres-Mariners exhibition game, Garth Brooks finally made a difference for the Padres.
Grath drove in his first run of the preseason with this rbi ground out to third.
Ruben Rivera scored and the Padres win 9-to-8.
Garth is now 1 for 22 in the preseason.
