NATO is getting help from a Norfolk-based aircraft that's joining in the attack on the Serbs.
As the operation expanded to include the city of Belgrade, officials announced the U.S.S. Teddy Roosevelt battle group will head toward the region in support of the assault.
Pentagon officials say there is still NO plan to use ground combat troops in the NATO operation.
Meanwhile, as Virginia troops are called into action Governor Jim Gilmore called on President Clinton to explain the mission to the American people.
Gilmore says he understands European stability is vital to America's security, but says the president needs to clearly explain his goals in Kosovo, how he will achieve them, and how it will end.

Gas prices are on the way back up, with a vengeance in some places.

Prices in California are up to almost two dollars a gallon in some places, up 40 cents a gallon over the past two weeks.

Analysts say short supplies due to a recent cut in oil production and fires at California refineries are causing the increase.
A day of fishing ended abruptly for three men following a traffic accident this evening.
It happened around 6:15 along Hardy Road.
The men were riding in a truck that was pulling a trailer with a boat on it.
The trailer started to fishtail causing the driver to lose control.
The boat broke loose and landed on the roadway.
No one was injured but traffic was slowed to a crawl.
Brush fires flared in Roanoke County this afternoon..
Two fires started around five this evening
near the railroad tracks behind Tanglewood Mall.
Officials believe sparks from a passing train started them.
It took firemen only a few minutes to put out the fires.
Roanoke officials are keeping a close eye on the water level at Carvin's Cove.
They are NOT proposing mandatory restrictions at this point, but they are beginning to consider some water conservation measures.
Today, the level is between 17 and 18 feet below the spillway.
That's actually a couple of feet HIGHER than it was in mid-March.
City Council will consider conservation measures at its meeting Monday. While that won't include any mandatory restrictions, officials are encouraging residents to cut back their water use voluntarily.

While the Brugh Tavern and the Welcome Center remain open year round, the park's historic area opened to the public on Friday.

Sunday School on Wheels, a ministry of Christian Life Fellowship in Salem, hosted the event this afternoon in Hurt Park.
Within a few minutes, the children had collected more than 17- thousand plastic eggs filled with candy.

The Roanoke Express played its final regular season game at the Roundhouse last night as the Johnstown Chiefs made a trip to the Valley.

Scott Gordon and his team would hold down first place in the division and conference at the start of the game.
The Chiefs opened the scoring when Dimitri Tarabin gets the puck fakes out Calvin Elfring and on his second shot he beats Dave Gagnon and the Chiefs went on top 1 to nothing.
But the Express comes back in the second period on the power play. Tim Christian Shoots the puck and it slides past the goaltender and Deywane Harmer taps it in for the score to tie the game at 1 to 1.
Gagnon would have a tough time in the net here Jakub Ficenec shoots from the slot but Gagnon comes up with the big save and Roanoke goes on to win it 2 to 1.
Kendall Gill had a triple double and tied an N-B-A record with 11 steals yesterday as New Jersey upset Miami 88 to 77.

The Nets cut the lead to 1 to open the second quarter Gill gets out on the break after the steal and throws down the jam to make it 24 to 23.

Several weeks ago new manager Ron Gideon was in town for a meeting with the media.
