The desire for higher wages has Virginia shipyard workers on the streets this morning.
Members of the United Steelworkers union have formed picket lines outside Newport News Shipbuilding.
The union represents the shipyard's 92-hundred hourly employees.
Workers want an across-the board hourly pay increase.
The company said it would continue operations using salaried employees.

The death penalty is used more frequently in Virginia than any other large state in the nation.
Virginia has the highest per capita execution rate of any state with a population of more than one million.
Texas puts to death more convicted killers, but Virginia's number of executions per ten-thousand people is higher-- just barely.
Virginia's execution rate is point-zero-eight-three per 10,000, while Texas's rate is point-zero-eight-two.
Texas has executed 173 inmates since 1982.
Virginia has executed 63 over the same 17-year period.
