Almost two million dollars is set to be paid out to one of the girls switched at birth at the UVA medical Center.


A judge yesteday okayed a settlement that would distribute the money over the next 30 years.

The search continues for clues in the violent death of a Henry County man.
The body of Richard Charles Holt, Senior was found Sunday in his home off Route 6-10, but authorities believe he was killed sometime last week.
A week ago, a neighbor reported hearing shots- before seeing Holt's burgundy Chrysler drive past.
On Sunday, a friend found what is believed to be Holt's body in the home... A medical examiner will confirm the identity, and cause of death later today.

Manslaughter charges have been filed against a man months after a drunk driving accident took the life of his passenger.

James Dooley was killed in the late-night wreck on Ninth Street, Southeast.
He was apparently a passenger in a vehicle driven by John Samuel Martin, Junior.
Both the victim and the driver were 19.
In addition to the Involuntary Manslaughter charge, Martin- -who has since turned 20- -is accused of underage consumption of alcohol.

A former Navy P-T boat, now masquerading as a dinner cruise boat, is on its way out of Claytor Lake.

Today, the Pioneer Maid floats at its mooring beside Claytor Lake State Park. Its paint is peeling and it hasn't carried any paying customers since the fall of 1996.
Barrett says a preservation group in Norfolk is interested in renovating the boat, but it will take six to eight weeks to make the necessary arrangements.

A former area representative to the House of Delegates died over the weekend.
William Fields Carter, who represented Martinsville, Henry and Patrick Counties for four years, died Saturday at the age of ninety.
Carter served in the General Assembly from 1954 to 1958.
He retired from politics after his second term but continued to practice law.
