Former Roanoke Valley drug prosecutor Jeff Rudd strikes a deal with prosecutors in Roanoke County.
Rudd was accused of trying to kill his girlfriend last July, and had been indicted on attempted murder and firearms charges.
Yesterday, he pled no contest to one count of discharging a firearm in an occupied building. The other charges were dismissed.
Rudd will be on probation for three years, and must get counseling.
His lawyers say Rudd was ill at the time of the incident, but is in recovery.

That's why they've made upgrading the stretch of road one of their top priorities.
