Jean the governor has has a bill on his desk banning guns on school property, but he's been trying to get an exemption that would allow students with hunting rifles to keep their guns locked in their cars.
The bill currently would allow that exemption ONLY IF the local school board approved it.

The students want Gilmore and the legislature to produce an UNCONDITIONAL ban of all guns on school property. That is not expected to happen.

However, Jean, the governor DID, sign a bill today giving anyone convicted of posessing a gun on school property, WITH THE INTENT TO USE IT THERE, or THREATEN PEOPLE WITH IT, a mandatory 5 year prison sentence.

A Montgomery County Circuit judge has been asked to UN-seal a grand jury indictment that allegedly involves former Virginia Tech Quarterback Jim Druckenmiller.
Papers filed in court by the Times-World Corporation allege the indictment charges Druckenmiller with a felony but does not go into the nature of the alleged offense.

CBS placed a hidden camera on a worker's eyeglasses to record activities. The program alledged that the psychiatric hospital falsified records and condoned dangerous conditions. The hospital took CBS to court stating the hidden camera violated patient confidentiality. CBS sucessfully argued the report was shielded from prior restraint by the First Amendment.
