A Department of Justice psychiatrist says he's only seen one person with a more devastating pathology than Calvin Swann and apparently that may have been enough to convince Governor Jim Gilmore to commute Swann's death sentence to life in prison.

Country singer George Jones told a judge this morning he was drunk when he crashed into a bridge in March.

Jones will not serve any jail time, but he will have to pay more than 500 dollars in fines.

The New England Journal of Medicine is raising safety questions about liposuctions after five people have died during the procedure.
The deaths were tracked over a five year period. Two of the deaths were blamed on cardiac arrest. Another patient died of blood clots in the lungs and another was attributed to a fluid overload.

The doctors can't say for sure that liposuction caused the deaths, but they strongly suspect the procedure contributed to them.
Liposuction involves sucking the fat out of the body while injecting large amounts of salt water and medication.
Plastic surgeons say the procedure is safe.

Students from a Botetourt County school for troubled boys are now volunteering to build houses for the homeless.
