For the first time during his term as governor, Jim Gilmore has commuted a death sentence.
The governor intervened just a few hours before Calvin Swann was to be put to death last night.

Members of the River-oak Church of God are loading up two trailers full of supplies to drive to Oklahoma early next week.
Thirty area churches and several local businesses have pitched in with water and other supplies.
They still need tools, diapers, cleaning supplies and paper products, among other items.

More and more women are clamoring to get into Virginia Military Institute.
In fact the number of applications from men AND women continues to rise.
There's been a 25-percent increase in applications just since the current senior class arrived four years ago.
More than 11-hundred new applications have been submitted for the class of 2003- -including applications from 83 women. Seventy- five women applied last year.
