According to Yugoslavian army reports, shortly before midnight...death rained from the skies, shattering homes....setting tractors and wagons ablaze -killing dozens of people.. Most of the dead were Albanian refugees...women and children. Authorities say counting the dead was difficult because there were so many dismembered bodies. This man says they were on their way to Albania...he doesn t know how many were killed...everyone was sleeping.
Eyewitnesses told reporters at the scene there were 500 refugees in the village. Doctor: There are 60 wounded says this doctor. All sorts of burns, broken limbs. 20 patients have been operated on and there were 7 amputations.
The Yugoslav army claims NATO dropped 8 cluster bombs on the village. NATO says it doesn t yet know what happened. Pittsylvania County police are looking for the gunman in the drive-by shooting of a woman early this morning.
23-year-old Jessica Marie Corum was walking near the Cascade Post Office around 2 A-M. Someone fired out of a car window, hitting her in the chest.
Corum is in critical condition at the Danville Regional Medical Center.
Police say she has not been able to give them information about who was in the car.

Fink suffers from a blood sugar disorder that can cause confusion when he's off his diet.
Hikers along the Appalachian Trail spotted Fink today and alerted authorities.

It has been a miserable day for racing in Richmond. All of today's practice and qualifying for both the Busch and Grand National cares was washed out.
Rain continued tonight delaying the Hardee's 250 Busch event for two hours and 40 minutes.

But crews were quick to try and dry the track in time to give the Busch drivers a chance to get in their race, otherwise they would have to make it up on Sunday afternoon.
The race started on a less than perfect surface and the caution came out twice in the first ten laps for spins.
Things finally settled down and right now Jeff Green leads the race with about 130 laps to go.
The Cup cars are scheduled to qualify tomorrow afternoon at one they race tomrorow night in the Pontiac Excitement 400.

The man who was responsible for making Roanoke Catholic Friday Football Extra's team of the year in 1994 stepped down as the school's head coach last night.

John Cooke, the head football coach, athletic director, girls softball coach, and PE teacher at Roanoke Catholic is giving up his football and AD duties to cut back on his workload.
Cooke is the only man in Virginia history to win a state title at both a private and public school. In 1988 he coached Jonesville to the Division one VHSL crown.
He took Catholic from the 0-and-26 doldrums to a 14-and-0 title season in 1994.
He is being replaced by his good friend Paul Moyer, who served as as assistant in the mid-90's at Roanoke Catholic while his son PJ starred on the team.

The Roanoke College softball team lost a heartbreaker in the opening round of the NCAA atlantic regional tournament today in Glassboro, New Jersey.
The Maroons lost to Salisbury State 5-to-3 in 10 innings in the longest game in school history.

In a couple of golf notes, Blue Hills assistant pro Jeff Sprinkle had a rouhg day at the Dominion Open NIKE tour event in Richmond today.
Jeff shot a 10 over 82 and he finishes his two rounds at 159, 15 strokes over par.
Meanwhile, on the LPGA tour, Annika Sorenstam shot a 11 under par 61 on the par 72 Hermitage Course in Old Hickory, Tennessee.
She shot a 29 on the back nine.
