A frightening scene for some homeowners last night in Roanoke--

A jeep crashed through the front of this house.
It happened at 1431 Buena Vista Street.
Roanoke police say the jeep was parked along a steep driveway across the street when its emergency brakes failed.
It then sped down the driveway and smashed into the home.
No one was in the jeep or at home at the time and there were no injuries reported.
There's no word on the cost of the damages.

Part of the Civil War came to life again yesterday in Shenandoah County -- with the help of several VMI cadets.

The cadets were among almost two-thousand people who participated in the re-enactment of the Battle of New Market.
The re-enactment is an annual event and history lesson of sorts for the cadets.
During the Civil War the entire cadet corps was called into action by the Confederacy in 1864.
Ten died in battle.

Botetourt County authorties continue to investigate a weekend fatal accident.

It happened at about two o'clock near the intersection of Beaver Dam Road and Route 11.
Authorities say a motorist was travelling west along Beaver Dam Road when he veered his truck off the shoulder, flipped and landed in a creek.
He died at the scene.

A final contract for a University of Virginia campus in the Persian Gulf has been delayed by the complex negotiations.
U-V-A Provost Peter Low said he's traveled the middle east four times already to work out the deal, but both sides want to make sure they're comfortable with thefinal terms.
U-V-A Rector John Ackerly said during a Board of Visitors meeting last week that there hasn't been a meeting of the minds on a number of provisions in the contract.
The board approved creating the overseas campus at its January meeting. It's expected to open in 2001.
