Two people are dead after a murder suicide Saturday in Wythe County.
Police say Wayne Payne shot his estranged wife Angela Payne then took his own life.

A family member said Angela Payne had moved out of the couple's home just two months ago.
Their 21-year old daughter is now trying to cope with the loss of both of her parents.

Baker encouraged students to care about the world and to be activists with a conscience.
About 25 thousand people were on hand for the event.

The Wilmington Blue Rocks completed a three game sweep at Memorial yesterday beating the Salem Avalanche 10 to 1.

It was kids day at Memorial Stadium as the Avalanche hosted the Blue Rocks.
Wilmington took the lead in the third. Brandon Burger hits this grounder up the middle a runner scores from third and the Blue Rocks took the 1 to nothing lead.
Wilmington continued the rally. Jose Cepeda hits this double to centerfield two more runs score this time and the Blue Rocks upped that lead to 3 to nothing in the third.

Still in the third Vic Radcliffe hits a line drive down the third base line scoring another run to make it 4 to nothing and the Blue Rocks get the sweep with the 10 to 1 win.

Saturday 39-year old Angela Payne was found shot to death in a car at the intersection of Wysor Highway and Reed Creek Drive.
A short while later, deputies found her husband, William Wayne Payne, dead in his home.
Police say he apparently shot himself with the same gun that killed Angela Payne.
Neighbors say the couple recently seperated, but they didn't expect anything like this to happen.

((The owner of a farm supply store in Rocky Mount, Helms was one of the figures singled out in a federal search warrant affidavit filed in support of Operation Lightning--the recent crackdown on moonshining in western Virginia.
Helms died of a self-inflicted gunshot a week ago.
His first cousin wrote:
"I suppose I could blame the press but, overall, most of the press has, in my opinion, been fair. What is not fair, professional and ethical is the conduct of state and federal ABC officials/investigators as to the statements about Ramsey. He was not charged or convicted of any crime. To label him as a major figure before being charged is very unprofessional and the officers responsible should be dismissed from their positions. I am proud to be in the Helms family and kin to Ramsey. I will remember him, as a young boy, playing and working on his family farm. He was always mild-mannered and soft-spoken. He is far from the criminal ABC officials have portrayed him to be."

A truck wreck in Franklin County could cause some delays this morning.
Crew are cleaning up the remnants of a broken-down truck in the southbound lanes of route 220 near Franklin Ford.


State Police say one southbound lane is closed and could remain closed into the afternoon.
