Friends and relatives are trying to deal with an apparent weekend murder-suicide in Wythe County.

According to authorities, 39-year old Angela Payne was found shot to death in a car at the intersection of Wysor Highway and Reed Creek Drive.
A short while later, deputies found her husband, William Wayne Payne, dead in his home.
Police say he apparently shot himself with the what's believed to be the same gun that killed Angela Payne.
Neighbors say the couple recently seperated, but they didn't expect anything like this to happen.

In the end he won the best director prize.

It seems Microsoft is winning the browser war, at least in the workplace. A recent survey of 300 companies found 60 percent using Internet Explorer... just six months ago, the same survey had Netscape on top. But what sounds like good news for Microsoft, could actually help the government's case that the company is monopolizing the Internet software market.

NASA is apparently way behind in CYBER-space. Investigators looking into NASA security had no trouble breaking into its computers... finding some areas had passwords they could easily guess... some had NO passwords at all. The Government Accounting Office concluded hackers could easily disrupt NASA command and control operations... NASA is working on the problem.

33-year old, Owen Hart, died last night in Kansas City... after falling 50 feet into the ring.
He was supposed to be lowered from the ceiling of the arena.
At first, many in the sold-out crowd thought it was a hoax.
The event was also being shown on pay-per-view.

Serb media say missiles hit a power plant near Belgrade this morning and water pumps in one northwestern town.

Howard Baker gave the commencement speech at the university's graduation exercises.
Baker encouraged students to care about the world and to be activists with a conscience.
About 25 thousand people were on hand for the event.

The death of a target of a federal investigation into moonshining brought some sharp comments from a relative.

((The owner of a farm supply store in Rocky Mount, Helms was one of the figures singled out in a federal search warrant affidavit filed in support of Operation Lightning--the recent crackdown on moonshining in western Virginia.
Helms died of a self-inflicted gunshot a week ago.
His first cousin wrote:
"I suppose I could blame the press but, overall, most of the press has, in my opinion, been fair. What is not fair, professional and ethical is the conduct of state and federal ABC officials/investigators as to the statements about Ramsey. He was not charged or convicted of any crime. To label him as a major figure before being charged is very unprofessional and the officers responsible should be dismissed from their positions. I am proud to be in the Helms family and kin to Ramsey. I will remember him, as a young boy, playing and working on his family farm. He was always mild-mannered and soft-spoken. He is far from the criminal ABC officials have portrayed him to be."

Friends and relatives are trying to deal with an apparent weekend murder-suicide in Wythe County.
Authorities say, 39-year old Angela Payne was found shot to death in a car at the intersection of Wysor Highway and Reed Creek Drive.
A short while later, deputies found her husband, William Wayne Payne, dead in his home.
Police say he apparently shot himself with the what's believed to be the same gun that killed Angela Payne.
Neighbors say the couple recently seperated, but they didn't expect anything like this to happen.
