Police say a Pembroke man fatally beat a West Virginia woman with a claw hammer during a robbery in Wyoming County, West Virginia.
Authorities say 50-year-old Donna Jennings was working as at a gas station in Saulsville, West Virginia when she was attacked.
She died on the way to the hospital.
The attacker reportedly got away with more than 400 dollars before being shot by police during a car chase.
Thirty-seven-year-old Michael Stewart of Pembroke underwent surgery and is in critical condition.
Charges are pending.
