A tractor trailer fire in Rockbridge County shut down part of Interstate 64 this morning.
The fire began around 4:30 off the 43 mile marker of the interstate.
Officials do not know the exact cause of the fire, but believe hazardous materials may be to blame.
Fire squads from Alleghany County were called to the scene to assist with the fire.
The driver was taken to Stonewall Jackson Hospital in Lexington.
So if you are traveling that way today, Dispatchers say the interstate has reopened, but the westbound off and on ra

A police chase through Forrest leaves one driver facing numerous charges including attempted malicious wounding.

Last night, a deputy tried to pull over a car traveling on Route 221-because it apparently had expired tags.
The car didn't stop- instead the driver led police on a chase...that ended at Lake Vista after a police car was rammed.
Three people were in the suspect vehicle-2 jumped in the lake and tried to escape from authorities...But all three were taken into custody.
Police recovered a brown bag thrown from the car during the pursuit.
They say the items appear to narcotics.

Former Northwestern University basketball coach Ricky Byrdsong has died this morning from injuries suffered in a drive-by shooting.
Byrdsong was hit in the lower back while jogging last night in a Chicago suburb. His eight year old son was with him, but wasn't hurt.
Six people were wounded in another shooting last night when someone opened fire on a group of Orthodox Jews walking home from synagogue in Chicago's North Side.
The youngest victim is a 15-year-old boy, who's in serious condition.
Chicago Police are still looking for the suspects involved in the two drive-by shootings.
Investigators think the two incidents may be connected.

She and Cornwell pal Orrin Hatch will sit on the institute's board.

With a hot, humid forecast for this holiday weekend, you might be planning a trip down to Smith Mountain Lake.

That's still probably a few years away.... Caron says he plans to eventually add water slides and a wave pool.
For now, patrons can enjoy bumper boats.
Even if your sailing skills aren't the greatest-- that's okay.
Getting bumped means you have a good chance for a refreshing splash on a hot summer day...
Or, if you prefer to be a landlubber....slide behind the wheel of a go- cart on this curvy track.
But there's no bumping on this ride.
In fact, safety is a priority... and so far, there haven't been any major problems at the park.
