They discovered a drowning victim in the New River today.

A man's body was found under water just over an hour ago in Giles County, just north of the Montgomery County line.
The discovery came about two hours after searchers were called out.
No official word yet on the man's identity or what led to the drowning.

Residents in Galax are still checking their mailbox for a car tax refund check.
According to the city's commissioner of revenue, the D-M-V is to blame.

David Hankley says his office forwarded the necessary information to the agency prior to its February 28th deadline.
But he says, despite his repeated calls to the D-M-V, the agency has NOT sent any refund checks to city residents.

To make matters worse-- Hankley says residents who phone the car tax refund hotline are being told that the city has NOT filed for any refunds.
