Northern Lights is number one, but is still only able to cover 1/6 of existing internet pages. Snap and AltaVista run close behind.
Some websites, such as Metacrawler, and Dogpile, survey several search engines at once, and deliver the results.


The number of individual web pages online now stands at 800 million. It now takes about six months for a new page to make it into a search engine's listing.

The anti-defamation league is urging congress to expand hate-crime legislation. They concerned about the growth of hate groups, and their use of the internet.

The sounds of bells rang through the air in Roanoke tonight, as the John Wynn Myers Memorial Carillon debuted.

On the front steps of the Green Memorial United Methodist church, church organist Richard Cummins used his keyboard to ring 318 bells.
However you won't find any acutal bells they're digitally sounded with the help of a computer.
The hour long performance brought folks of all ages out to hear the heavenly sounds that are not just for the church to enjoy.

A Lynchburg man is dead from multiple gunshot wounds and his shooter is at large.

Police were called to 705 Stuart Street just before midnight after neighbors reported hearing several shots being fired in the area.
That's where an unidentified young male had been shot several times in the chest and arms.
Witnesses told police the gunman burst through the front door, fired several shots at the victim as he sat on a living room sofa, then ran out the back door.
No arrests have been made.

The child's mother says Bedrosian was out of line.

Firefighters are reporting some progress in battling the series of forest fires throughout the George Washington and Jefferson National Forests.
Just north of Clifton Forge, 100 acres has burned in the most serious of the blazes.
