But the cost has doubled, and board members say they want to consider possible savings that were identified in an independent review.

A woman shot by Christiansburg police filed suit- but a federal judge dismissed that lawsuit.
It was 1996- when Stella Arcaro fired several rounds from a .22 caliber rifle before calling 9-1-1.. in hopes of reaching the suicide hotline.
Police shot Arcaro, when she came out of the house carrying the loaded rifle, refusing to put it down.
The judge ruled that the police acted reasonably and dismissed the claim.

Stanley Furniture is disputing charges that it caused excessive air pollution.

The Environmental Protection Agency has filed a complaint saying that the furniture company violated the Clean Air Act. The E-P-A says the company operated a broken boiler -- possibly for as long as five years.
Stanley Furniture responded today that it fixed the boiler immediately after discovering the pollution problem last year.
The company -- one of Henry County's largest employers -- could face a 175-thousand dollar penalty.

The city took quick action this afternoon to protect Roanoke drivers from an old hotel and a wall that could come tumbling down.

Engineers renovating the Shenandoah Hotel told city officials the hotel's east wall is not stable.
That's the wall that faces Williamson Road.
The engineers would NOT say how dangerous it is.

If you're driving south toward downtown, you'll have to take a right on Salem and go through the city market.
That block of Williamson will be closed for at least a week.

They're all over 14. The Roanoke Stars will be participating in the largest youth soccer tournament in the world.
