AEP says high temperatures across its entire seven-state region would strain the system.
But the company says so many people responded ... using less electricity ... that now the emergency is over.

Two tractor trailers were involved in an accident that sent one man to the hospital and blocked traffic on route 460 this afternoon.

One truck driver was stopped in the westbound lanes of 460 waiting for a traffic light to change, when a second tractor- trailer hit his rig from behind.
The second truck then travelled across the median and hit a bank on the other side of the highway.
The accident blocked the eastbound lanes.
The driver of the second truck was taken to the hospital, but we don't know the extent of his injuries.

Morning rush hour traffic brought a surprise to Northern Virginia motorists today when a pilot was forced to land his small plane on Route 23 in Burke.
The plane developed mechanical problems right after taking off and was forced to make an emergency landing.
William Scott managed to avoid hitting power lines and cars on the road. No one was injured.

A 9-year old boy is doing better tonight, after almost drowing in the Lynchburg General Hospital Pool Friday.
Justin Moon's condition was upgraded from critical to serious at the U.V.A. Medical Center.
Lynchburg Hospital officials say the boy was swimming without adult supervision, which is against hospital policy.

Yosemite National Park. They identified 37 year old Cary Stayner as the
prime suspect. When Stayner appeared for arraignment today, court
documents revealed he d already confessed to one vicious killing: that
of 26 year old Joie Armstrong who was beheaded and found just inside
Yosemite last week.
It should have been a triumph for investigators. But instead they were
left wondering whether their mistakes cost Joie Armstrong her life.

The feds filed papers in court today to seize the home of Jason Stanley... where police found a four-pot still and 600 gallons of untaxed liquor.
It's also where Stanley shot and killed his brother, Scott, last year. JASON Stanley is serving time for manslaughter.
The government notes Stanley paid 77-thousand dollars for the property in 1995. He got a bank loan without listing a job or any source of income. In less than two years, he had paid off the loan, in cash.

The Charlotte Hornets second round pick in last month's selection process is facing drug charges this afternoon in Fort Worth, Texas.
Lee Nailon was arrested Saturday night along with two other men at a Comfort Inn where police found between two and four ounces of marijuana and other paraphernalia.
He is free on bond tonight. The Hornets say they are seeking more details about the arrest before making any comment.

The Hornets are pleased to talk about coming to terms with their other draft pick, their number one selection Baron Davis today.
He was the third overall pick in the draft after leaving UCLA after his sophmore season.

And it looks like doctors have found a tissue match that will enable Sean Elliott to have the kidney transplant he needs.
The disease Elliott suffers from affects both of his kidneys and the surgery could be done later this week. The donor is one of Elliott's brother.
