A 23 year old murder investigation has come to an end as a jury found a retired Covington businessman guilty.

A jury in Putnam County, West Virginia convicted Carroll Eugene Humphries of conspiring to kill Billy Ray Abshire in 1976.
Abshire died in a car bombing.
Humphries then married Abshire's widow.
Humphries faces a possible life sentence, his lawyer says he will appeal the conviction.

The two men Humphries hired to carry out the bombing were convicted in earlier trials.
Charges against Abshire's widow, Katherine Abshire Humphries, were dropped due to lack of evidence.

A judge granted custody of Johnson's oldest child, her 13-year-old son to his father, saying the boy will only spend weekends with his mother.
The judge would not discuss the ruling publically, but a family friend said the ruling indicated the publicity surrounding the baby-switch case was too much for the boy.

The Yankees made a trade today reacquiring Jim Leyritz in a deal with San Diego. The padres get minor league pitcher Geraldo Padua.
Leyritz played for the Yankees from 1990 to 1996 before he was traded to Anaheim. He then went to Texas and Boston before being traded to San Diego last June. The 35 year old is hitting 239 with 8 home runs and 21 R-B-I's
