Divers resumed their search this morning for a man who's believed to have drowned in Claytor Lake.

Investigators say the man and a relative were boating in the Snowville area and jumped in to swim.
When their boat started to float away, the two began swimming toward it.
Investigators say it was around then the man started to have trouble swimming and disappeared.
The area where rescue crews are searching is extremely deep.
That's why state police, who have more experience and equipment than local volunteers, were asked to handle the underwater search.

Alfred Lusk was fishing with relatives in the New River Saturday, near Hazel Hollow Road in Pulaski County.
Investigators say he apparently slipped on a rock and fell in while trying to cross the river. Lusk lived in West Virginia.

Firefighters are stilling battling two forest fires left over from the weekend in Rockbridge County.

Lightning caused three fires in the George Washington and Jefferson National forests. 23-acres have burned on Lone Mountain near Buena Vista. And close by--firefighters are continuing to battle the 15-acre Elephant Mountain Fire.
Over 1-hundred firefighters were dispatched to the fires. The U-S forest service hopes to have them under control by late this afternoon.

Virginia says New York City should be dragged into federal court over the state's new trash laws.

A federal judge in Richmond will hear arguments today on whether New York should be added to a lawsuit challenging Virginia's new restrictions on out-of-state trash.
Those laws were to take effect July first-- but have been put on hold by the court.
Texas- based Waste Management Incorporated says the laws are a violation of the Constitition's commerce clause.
Attorney General Mark Earley is trying to counter-sue New York for foisting its garbage off on Virginia.

The world's oldest twins celebrated their 107th birthday yesterday by planting a tree.
Twins Kin, in the wheelchair and Gin are considered national treasurers in Japan...a society which highly regards the elderly.
The two ladies have been in the national spotlight since turning 100...showing up on various Japanese T-V shows and commercials.
And talk about having lots of wallet photos....between them they have 16 children, 11 grandchildren, and 14 great(------------) - grandchildren.
