A Salem couple facing animal cruelty charges were in court this morning.

Michael W. Boyd and Cheryl A. Boyd were charged with misdemeanors last week... and they were arraigned today in Salem General District Court.
On July 28th, Animal Control officers removed fifty cats from a house on Apperson Drive. They also found another 25 cats that had died.
This morning in court, the Boyds shook their heads as the judge read the charges against them.

Firefighters have made a lot of progress on three Rockbridge County forest fires.

The blazes - in parts of the George Washington and Jefferson National Forests - were sparked by lightning and have been prolonged by dry conditions.
As of Sunday crews had brought a one-acre fire on Pinnacle Mountain under control.
Now officials say they are containing a twenty-three acre fire on Lone Mountain and a fifteen-acre fire on Elephant Mountain.
115 people worked to extinguish the flames.

The plane had just left LaGuardia and was bound for Atlanta when smoke was reported in the plane's cabin.
It was re-routed to J-F-K.

A botanist from the Hebrew University of Jerusalem, determined the cloth's origin by studying the pollen grains and plant images on the cloth.

David Duvall would call the match because of darkness near the end and the match was given to Woods before the 18th hole was played.
