The blaze broke out yesterday at sundown in the South Carolina beach community of Isle of Palms.
It destroyed the home of senator Fritz Hollings.
Fire officials say the blaze spread quickly like there was a firestorm. Five houses burned before fire fighters could get the blaze under control.
No one was injured.
Petty was not at home.

((Movie Review "Mystery Men" Universal

"Mystery Men" takes a loopy concept and makes it work. Good special effects and excellent production values help, but the performances are a lot of fun as well. A group of inept superheroes go into action when the super crime fighter of Champion City, Captain Amazing, (Greg Kinnear) is kidnapped by the nefarious Casanova Frankenstein (Geoffrey Rush). Ben Stiller is Mr. Furious who gets mad and turns red in the face; Hank Azaria affects a British accent as the Blue Rajah and William H. Macy attacks crime with garden implements as "The shoveler".
Realizing they need help, the recruit additional superheroes . They add Mr. Spleen (Paul Reubens) who has a unique talent which can't be repeated in this review;" The Disappearing Boy" who only disappears if no one is looking at him, and "The Bowler" (Jeanane Garofalo) whose bowling ball includes the skull of her father who was murdered by one of Casanova's men.
The group are aided by a weapons dealer (Tom Waits) who only deals in non-lethal weapons.
The whole idea is wacky, but the movie plays it straight. Clever dialogue helps. Grade B+.))

((We are at a beautiful spot here by the Roanoke River and Henry is getting ready to finish buttering up the Dutch oven here. YEAH, THIS DUTCH OVEN IS LIKE THE ONE GRANDMA USED TO HAVE ON THE FRONTIER, IT HAS A LIP ON IT AND EVERYTHING, SO IT CAN BE USED WELL ON THE FIRE THAT WELL And you are just going to leave that butter at the bottom. LEAVE THE BUTTER ON THE BOTTOM AND LET THE FIRE MELT IT. The butter has melted in the Dutch oven and we have put some flour in there, and that is so it doesn't stick. So what are you doing now? PUTTING BROWN SUGAR IN, AND THEN ONCE WE GET THE BROWN SUGAR AT A REASONABLE LEVEL HERE, KIND OF EVENED OUT HERE AS BEST WE CAN, WE'LL START ADDING OUR PINEAPPLE AND MARASCHINO CHERRIES. AND ONE LARGE CAN OF PINEAPPLES WILL DO THIS SIZE DUTCH OVEN. A regular yellow cake mix right is the next step? YEAH, OR YOU COMBINE ALL OF YOUR FAVORITE INGREDIENTS FROM YOUR FAVORITE FROM SCRATCH INGREDIENTS. THIS IS A THIRD CUP OF OIL, AND THEN WE HAD THREE EGGS. I didn't do too bad of a job doing that if anyone noticed. Let's see if I can do it left handed here... Bingo!! And we use a ziploc bag to keep us from having to use a bowl. NO CLEANUP! EXPEL AS MUCH AIR AS YOU CAN, AND THEN START MIXING IT UP. Of course we didn't forget the cherries. NO, AND THE NEXT THING YOU DO IS FROM YOUR ZIPLOC BAGGY POUR IN YOUR BATTER. Wonderful! Whoever came up with the idea of pineapple upside down cake is pretty darn smart. THAT'S EXACTLY RIGHT. AND YOU HAVE GOT TO THANK THE GUY MILKING THE COWS FOR YOU SO YOU CAN HAVE SOME MILK WITH IT. While Henry is putting on the finishing touches over there, we will make sure the fire is plenty warm. OK, WE PUT THE LID ON THE DUTCH OVEN AND I'VE SHOVELED A LITTLE BIT OF COALS OVER HERE AND WE SIT THE DUTCH OVEN ON THE COALS AND THEN WE GET ANOTHER SHOVEL FULL OF COALS AND PUT IT ALL OVER TOP OF THE DUTCH OVEN. So it is going yo cook from the top and the bottom. PRETTY MUCH. YOU WANT FEWER COALS ON THE BOTTOM THAN ON THE TOP, OR ELSE IT WILL BURN AND STICK ON THE BOTTOM. OK ANDREW, WHAT WE DO NOW IS WE CHECK TO SEE IF IT IS DONE. YEP, NOTHING STUCK. IT LOOKS DONE. It smells wonderful. Obviously there are a few things that we need to do before we serve it, right Henry? YEAH. THE FIRST THING WE DO IS TAKE OUR PRIMITIVE BROOM AND GET OUR ASHES OFF AS MUCH AS WE CAN. THEN WE TAKE THE DUTCH OVEN. And that is called the bail that you lifted it up by? YEAH, THAT IS THE BAIL. AND WE SIT IT DOWN AND LET IT COOL FOR A LITTLE WHILE. After we let it cool for a little while, Henry comes over and we hope that this works out. And we manage to get this guy to flip over. AND A LITTLE ASH NEVER HURT ANYTHING. ASH WAS ACTUALLY USED AS AN AGENT ON THE FRONTIER. THE WHITE FLUFFY ASH YOU CAN USE AS A YEAST PRODUCT TO MAKE YOUR BREAD. Look at that. We only lost one pineapple. Henry it looks great. We have never said on the Weekend Diner "hot off the fire", but it certainly is worth it. Let's give it a taste here. YOU KNOW ANDREW YOU CAN COOK ANYTHING OVER A FIRE THAT YOU CAN COOK AT HOME. ALL YOU'VE GOT TO DO IS TAKE THE TIME AND USE THE INGENUITY. AND WITH AT DUTCH OVEN YOU CAN BAKE BREAD, BISCUITS, DO ANYTHING YOU WANT, AND THE MAIN THING IS TO COOK RIGHT AFTER BREAKFAST YOUR DESERT FOR LATER BECAUSE YOU HAVE ALREADY GOT THE FIRE. All right .. great job there by Henry Bryant on the Weekend Diner. THANKS ANDREW.))
