Boris Said, who started on the outside front row, was the leader by 3 seconds over Kenny Wallace after 27 laps.
Pole setter Rusty Wallace made his move and he would lead the race with Jeff Gordon second with 52 laps left in the race.
Rookie Tony Stewart, making his first race at the Glen, loses control in one of the turns he dropped back to the 24-th position with 50 laps to go.
Jerry Nadeau, in the Cartoon Network Car, would take the point and he was the leader just past the halfway mark of the race.
Rich Bickle spins out on the track for the second time and ends up in the sand bringing out the caution.
But no one on the track could catch Gordon and he would hold off Ron Fellows to win the Frontier at the Glen.
