For the second time a local government ducks out of a decision on no-wake buoys at Smith Mountain Lake.
Bedford County supervisors refused to vote tonight on whether to give a lake group the power to remove speed limits.

A Roanoke man is in stable condition tonight after he was shot in the arm.
A police officer heard shots in North Roanoke around 7 p.m.
When authorities responded, they found Jermaine Osborne of Hunt Avenue with a gunshot wound to the arm.


Police say unknown suspects fled the scene.
Osborne was taken to Roanoke Memorial Hospital. His wound does not appear to be life-threatening.

Elizabeth Ann Reynolds of Bunker Hill Loop was driving east on 460 when she lost control of her 1978 Chevrolet.
It went off the road and hit a tree.
Rescuers say she died on impact.
Reynolds was 59 years old.
