The plan involves 14 thousand acres of land that will be used to expand existing trails and picnic areas around the Cove.

A man who died on a roller coaster at Paramount's Kings Dominion may have engaged in misconduct that contributed to his death.

That word tonight from theme park officials.
20-year old Timothy Fan of New York City was killed last night while riding the Shockwave.
Riders stand while the roller coaster makes several loops - reaching speeds of 50 miles an hour.
A statement released by Kings Dominion says "witness statements indicate rider misconduct on the part of Fan may have played a role in the incident."
Park officials say the ride is safe.

Police are asking the public to help them find a suspect in last Saturday's Northwest Roanoke murder.

19-year-old Prentice R. Jordan was shot several times in Easley's Restaurant on Shenandoah Avenue.
Investigators believe this man, 23 year old Timothy Lee Buford, fired some of those shots.
Buford is charged with shooting into an occupied dwelling.
He is 5 feet ten inches tall, 160 pounds and may have gold teeth.
Police are asking anyone who knows where Buford is to call Crime-Line at 344-8500.

Amherst County authorities want to know who doused a Naola (nay-OH-la) man with gasoline and set him on fire last January.

Lab tests recently confirm that 40- year- old Herman Branham was soaked with both gas and kerosene in the yard of this home January 27th.
Branham was still on fire when he walked more than a half mile to his mother's home and collapsed.. he died six days later.

In a surprise plea - 19 year old Samuel Sheinbein will be sentenced to 24 years in an Israeli prison for the murder of a fellow Maryland teenager.

Rockbridge County's preschoolers will soon have a new place to go for class.

An empty school bus replaces the old churches that used to house county preschools. A year ago fire inspections stopped the use of the churches and disbanded the program.

The idea to use buses came from Bath County -- it's been using buses for pre-school for 20 years. The bus has all the things a classroom would need including heating, air and bathrooms. Officials from both counties agree that this program reaches more students because the classroom is mobile -- however the children aren't in the bus when it moves. Rockbridge County hopes to open the bus for school in October.

Some swimmers at a popular California beach got a scary surprise yesterday...

A shark was spotted swimming close to the shore of Stinson Beach National Park... at times it got as close as 50 feet from the beach.
The shark's appearance was caught on home video.
Park officials have closed the beach so they can watch the water for more sightings.
Experts say the shark was a great white and could be about 12 to 14 feet long.

The Saints confirm that their two pro bowl lineman William Roaf and Joe Johnson both went down yesterday in practice with knee injuries. Johnson is out for the season, Roaf for at least a week.
The denial revolves around Ricky Williams.

The Roanoke Express is offering a premium parking pass for the fans this coming season. The pass will be good for all 35 home games and it will get your car in the main lot located between the front of the Civic center and Williamson road. The cost is $70.
The Express also named Randy Sieminski its new radio broadcaster. Previously he was the voice of the South Carolina Stingrays and Lowell Lochmonsters.
