Dennis may be history.
It's the fourth hurricane in four years to batter or land on the North Carolina coast. Now Dennis is headed out into the Atlantic, at least for now.
But sustained winds ranging from tropical storm level to a scary 92 miles per hour near Cape Fear have left their mark along the coast.

Meanwhile, attorneys for the city and Roanoke County are still working on an agreement to help deal with the water shortage.

Reyes' impending jail time brought some well- known anti- abortion faces back to Lynchburg today.

Police soon found out who John Reyes was.. Flip Benham too, for that matter.
Both were tried and convicted of trespassing during this anti- abortion rally at E.C. Glass High School in 1997.. Benham already has served his time, now Reyes has run out of appeals.

A plea agreement today in the case of a Lynchburg teenager charged with killing a man over a deal for illegal guns.

The body of 21- year- old Peter Spyropolous (speer-AH-poe-lis) was found inside this burning car last September.


Police believe Spyropolous and 19- year- old Darnell Venable had come here from Boston to buy guns, but that Venable kept the money, killed Spyropolous, then set his rental car on fire.
Prosecutor Bill Petty says proving the robbery would have been difficult.

The jury in the Bland Prison drug trafficking case has decided Michael Fulcher's mother owes the government more than 20-thousand dollars for her involvement.

ETHEL Fulcher was found guilty Friday night of laundering the proceeds of drug peddling at the prison. It was a very selective verdict, though.
Jurors could have tied her to three times as much. They spent more than three hours today sorting through money orders and receipts, before deciding 20-thousand- 449 dollars was traceable to her.
If she cannot pay, the government could seize her home.
