Good Evening.
It's unusual and last minute-
Tonight the United States Supreme Court stepped in- halting the execution of Lonnie Weeks.
(---------)

[Vo-Nat]
The 27 year old North Carolina man was scheduled to die for the shooting death of a state trooper.
[Super=03-Dale City/1993;]

It was 1993 that Weeks was pulled over on Interstate 95 in Dale City-
A jury convicted him of fatally shooting Virginia State Trooper Jose (ka-VAH-zose) Cavazos six times-
The Supreme Court will consider a question regarding a judge's instructions to the jury that sentenced Cavazos to death.
Those arguments probably will be heard in December or January ... and a decision could come next summer.
The court action meant Governor Gilmore did not have to act on a clemency petition.

Ty Incorporated announced over its Internet web site that it will no longer make the animals when the new year arrives.
This news caused a frenzy among avid collectors.
Many are buying the animals to complete their collections.
But the web site message is gone, and Ty won't say whether it's serious about "retiring" Beanie Babies.
