Dennis had been heading out to sea, but there are fears it will backtrack to the coast.

It's these kind of conditions that forced officials up and down the East coast to post tropical storm warnings, They extend as far south as Surf City, North Carolina, all the way up to the Virginia coast. Even cities not included in these warnings will get a taste of Dennis.

"The entire area from the Carolina's northward to New Jersey will be experiencing a prolonged siege of strong winds, rough surf, and potential beach erosion." Dennis may not have solved Roanoke's water woes, but new water sources may help.

Yesterday morning they began drilling a well at the Carvins Cove filtration plant.
If water is found, it will allow the city to take less water from the Cove.
So far Rorrers Well Digging company has gone down 180 feet and hopes to find water at 600 feet, but that could take several days.
City officials hope the well will provide up to a half million gallons of water per day.

A vote for tighter restrictions on Halifax County hog operations has angered not only farmers, but also some environmentalists.

The A-C-L-U says it will provide legal assistance to students whose rights have been violated.

The Boeing 7-37 fell from the sky soon after taking off last night from an airport in Buenos Aires.

Just moments after taking flight, witnesses say the plane grazed a busy highway before bursting into flames at a nearby golf course. Miraculously there is some promising news out of this tragedy. Hospital officials say as many as 34 people survived, many now covered with burns from the hot flames. The Boeing 7-37 was on it's way to Cordoba, a city nearly 5 hundred miles northwest of Buenos Aires. A bystander says the plane barely cleared the airport fence when it began to lose altitude. Unconfirmed reports say the craft may have hit as many as three cars before slamming into the golf course. Officials were on the scene almost immediately and at this hour continue to comb through the wreckage. Police have cordoned off the area near the airport, creating huge traffic jams along some of the city's most heavily traveled roadways.))

Forecasters believe Dennis will continue to move west then take a southwest turn later today.

Roanoke's N-double-A-C-P Chapter says they're investigating Monday's court decision dismissing an assault charge against Al Bedrosian.
The judge said Bedrosian was technically guilty of assault, but said the matter should have been settled when he apologized.
Chapter President Martin Jeffrey says he's trying to determine if the court violated Melissa Campbell and her son's civil rights.

House of Delegates Democratic leader Dick Cranwell says he'll fight to see more money allocated to Southwest and Southside Virginia transportation projects.
Governor Gilmore's new transportation plan would put 138 million dollars into the Lynchburg and Salem districts.

But projects in Northern and Eastern Virginia would get the most money.
