This time a tractor trailer traveling I-81 southbound is side swiped by a horse trailer... causing the driver of the tractor trailer to ram into the guard rail and over turn causing a 3 mile backup for several hours. And when an accident comes during one of the most traveled holiday weekends and Virginia Tech's first game ... the delays can be frustrating for motorists.

Fire destroyed a house in Roanoke County this morning.

Firefighters say they responded to a call on Eastland Road around 10:15.
The owner, Robert Hall, was next door when he saw smoke billowing out of his house.
He says by the time he ran home, it was fully engulfed.
Another person was in the house when the flames broke out, but she made it out safely.
At this time, there is no word from the Fire Inspector on how the fire started.

They're the Hairston Family ... known as the National Hairston Clan Incorporated.

Members of National Hairston Clan Incorporated are decedents of slaves who worked on the Cooleemee Plantation in North Carolina.

An apparent tornado touched down this afternoon in Coastal Virginia.
The storm hit an assisted living center and several apartment buildings in Hampton. Police say between 20 and 30 people suffered minor injuries. There were ``no'' fatalities. The possible twister also flipped cars and downed trees. Authorities say a possible tornado also hit a barn and snapped utility polls in nearby Chesapeake. Lynchburg's airport is offering 99-dollar fares to Washington -Dulles or any other Virginia airport.

The company asked for permission from the state to let 18-thousand people buy power from any registered electricity supplier in 2001.

Connex Pipe Systems says it'll resume production with 50 employees next month.

Mayo was struck by in car as he walked to the bus stop on Summit Road.

He flies an average of a thousand people each year...everyone from small children to 90- year- olds.

It was a defensive struggle for most of the first quarter with the score tied at 3.
Carolina would take the lead late in the second quarter. Dale Ellis rolls out to pass he over throws his receiver right into the hands of Carolina's Antoine Black he takes the rock 89 yards into the end zone and the Tar Heels took a 9 to 3 lead at the half.
U-V-A took the lead on a Thomas Jones 1 yard run then Ellis puts it into the air and hits Kevin Coffey on the 32 yard touchdown pass play and the Cavaliers led 17 to 9.
But The Tar Heels rallied behind Ronald Curry he scrambles and hits Anthony Saunders on the T-D pass the two point conversion tied it at 17.
