A sex scandal involving the White House is brewing..
this one involved the internet, and applesauce...
And what's Monica Lewinsky doing these days?
Eric Earnhart has details in this week's Web Watch.

It began when someone turned the domain Whitehouse-dot-com into a hard-core porn site, complete with intern-jokes...
But Virginia-based National Fruit Products Company was not amused, they make White House Apple juice and sauce... they filed a lawsuit saying the porn-site site tarnishes their trademark. The x-rated site is fighting back.

By the way, if you're wondering where Monica is these days... she's online, launching a new website called The Real Monica Incorporated.
She's selling handbags she designed when she was forced to learn how to knit to deal with the boredom of living in seclusion.

Hotmail is back and says everything is ok now... several days ago a gaping security hole allowed a hacker to set up a site offering password-free access to anyone's account... Microsoft says it's fixed now.

If you missed Saturday's tech game, catch the next one online... at Hokiesports.dot.com, pull up a live web cast of the contest.... two web cams watch both sides of the field, and while it's hard to make out a lot of details, live stats let you know exactly what's going on.

(( A juvenile and domestic relations judge in Salem dismissed the charges against Bedrosian, saying while he may have technically been guilty of assault, this was a case that should have been settled out of court.
A viewer in Rocky Mount [Carole Muncy] wrote:
I am amazed that the assault of a child carries less penalty than the assault of an adult person. Mr. Bedrosian had no right to spank that child. If the child was causing a problem, he could have picked up his infant and walked away, addressing his problem to security and letting him handle it.
The judge shows even poorer judgment than Mr. Bedrosian. I'm not surprised the mother left with no comment - I would have been speechless with disgust myself. Perhaps Mr. Bedrosian can provide the public with a list of people that, in his esteemed view, need disciplining, then the public can decide if they want to vote for him.

The Pearisburg Walmart is closed indefinitely due to a fire yesterday.
It happened in the Lawn and Garden department.
Cedar Chips and charcoal in the section of the store were feeding the flames.
The fire was contained to that area, but smoke damage did affect the inside of the store.
No one was injured.
There's no word yet on the cause.

The remnants of Tropical storm Dennis have moved in southwest Virginia.
As the rain fell yesterday, rising water washed some diesel tanks downstream in the Roanoke River.
(------------)
[VO-NAT]
[SUPER=03-Roanoke;]

It happened near the Hanna's Court Trailer Park.
The tanks were part of a construction project, where workers have been pumping water out of a section of the river.
High water over-ran a temporary dam, flooding the pumps and washing away the tanks.
Officials say the tanks were sealed, and did NOT leak.

Taking a break from the news to check the forecast....
There's a flash flood watch in effect for several counties along the blue ridge. There's a slight risk of small creek and stream flooding today.
Expect the rain showers to slowly taper off this afternoon with the New River Valley starting to dry out first.
The extended forecast has a chance for more rain tomorrow afternoon as a cold front comes through. The rest of the week looks cooler than normal.
