Southwest Virginia is being pounded by the remnants of former Tropical Storm Dennis.
As the rain fell last night and the water began to rise, some diesel tanks were washed downstream in the Roanoke River.

It happened near the Hanna's Court Trailer Park in Roanoke .
The tanks were part of a construction project, where workers have been pumping water out of a section of the river.
High water over-ran a temporary dam, flooding the pumps and washing away the tanks.
Officials say the tanks were sealed, and did NOT leak.
The contractor says he didn't expect the water to rise so quickly.

The national weather service says anywhere from two to six inches of rain fell over inland areas.

The rain is helping Carvins Cove.
Its currently 28.3 feet below the spillway.
That's up more than 10 inches from Friday and it will probably rise another foot today.
That's good news for Roanoke city residents who say the rain is a much needed blessing.

People in Coastal Carolina are finally saying goodbye to Dennis.

While Dennis did damage homes along the coast, it was NOT as bad as many people feared, officials say floodwaters are already receding.

The driver of this tractor trailer was traveling southbound when he lost control and slid into the median strip and jack knifed.

No one was seriously injured but the driver of the tractor trailer was transported to the hospital with minor injuries.

The rain has caused slick conditions on area roads.
The driver of this tractor trailer was traveling southbound on I-81 yesterday morning when he lost control and slid into the median strip and jack knifed.
Debris then flew into the northbound lanes blowing out one vehicles window.
No one was seriously injured but the driver of the tractor trailer was transported to the hospital with minor injuries.

Danville's former City Manager may have a new job.
Ray Griffin is being considered for a City Manager position in Kingsport, Tennessee.
On June 30th Griffin resigned from his position in Danville after coming under fire from members of city council. Right now the city of Kingsport is negotiating a salary package and conducting a background check before offering him the job. No word on when a decision will be made.
