Officials are evacuating more than one million people... With potential winds reaching a catastrophic 155 miles per hour, this storm could do much more damage than Hurricane Andrew did in 1992.
That is why officials have extended hurricane warnings-- all along the entire Florida coast. And-- Florida's Governor Jeb Bush has declared a state of emergency.

The new Standards of Learning tests in Virginia's schools have prompted Roanoke's City School Board to change a 17 year old policy that helps students succeed in school.

50-year old Ernest Quesinberry was reportedly pulled over by a state trooper for a suspected traffic violation, when he sped off on Route 58.

Today all the buses were rolling, and union officials confirmed the contract was approved.
Valley Metro officials say the drivers received a pay raise and a better deal on their medical insurance.

A judge today certified charges against a Wythe County woman accused of trying to hire someone to commit murder.

A grand jury in November will decide whether to indict 34- year old Julia Alderman-- who is currently free on bond.

Alderman is accused of trying to hire three women to kill her romantic rival.
Pulaski police say Alderman was having an affair with a married man and wanted his wife killed.

A Campbell County man will "not" be charged for the accidental shooting death of his wife last spring.

A grand jury today declined to indict 27-year old Douglas Pendleton on a charge of involuntary manslaughter.
Pendleton had told police he was showing his wife a gun when the weapon accidentally fired.
28-year old Jennifer Pendleton died of a single gunshot wound to the neck.
Prosecutor Neil Vener (VEN-er) says unless new evidence comes to light, the case is closed.

Investigators are still looking for the cause of the fire.
