One man is in the hospital after his pick-up truck slammed into a house tonight.

It happened shortly after 9.
Officials are unsure how the driver lost control.
But the truck hit a house in the 28 hundred block of Cove Road in Northwest Roanoke -- causing minor damage to the front of the home.
No word yet on the driver's condition - or what caused the accident.

Danville's last city manager - Ray Griffin, Junior - has a new job tonight.
He will become Kingsport, Tennessee's City Manager as of October first.

Danville's City Council fired Griffin in July. He worked there for seven years.
Griffin will take a pay cut to go to Kingsport. He made nearly 108-thousand dollars a year in Danville. The Kingsport job offers about 17-thousand less.

The death toll stands at about 17-hundred. Rescuers from around the world - including Virginia - are on the way to help. A Fairfax County rescue team -- which includes paramedics, doctors, engineers, and communications specialists -- left Dover Air Force Base in Delaware this morning on an 18-hour flight to the earthquake-ravaged island. The team saved four lives in a rescue mission in Turkey last month. It expects to stay in Taiwan a week to ten days.

A high school student in Bedford County is suspended for allegedly carrying a gun on a school bus.
The sheriff's office says the Jefferson Forest High School student showed the small-caliber gun to another student this morning.
He's being held at the Lynchburg Detention Home, and will face charges of having a gun on school property.

But Danville was down two/tenths of a percent.

Anthony Lee Belcher escaped from prison Friday.
He'd been serving a 12-year sentence for burglary, grand larceny, assault, attempted flight and escape.

Lifeguard 10 was called in tonight after a tractor trailer went down an embankment.

It happened shortly after 10 this evening on Bent Mountain Road in Roanoke County. The flat bed tractor trailer was hauling roofing shingles when it lost control and went down a 50 foot embankment. The driver had to be extricated from the cab of the vehicle. He was taken to Back Creek Elementary school where he was airlifted to Roanoke Memorial Hospital--his condition is unknown. Bent Mountain Road is open to traffic right now... but that could change.

Bristol speedway is coming down hard on ticket scalpers.
Speedway officials have canceled a man's season tickets after seeing his Internet offer to sell them to the highest bidder.

This isn't the first time the track has canceled a ticket purchase.
Last season, officials pulled 90 tickets to each of the two major Winston Cup events when they found a buyer was scalping them on the Internet.
