Tonight we have the highlights of 16 game for you as we stretch out from Danville to Wytheville to Bastian to Amherst.

But we begin our travels tonight in southwest Roanoke County where the well-rested William Fleming Colonels returned to action after a week off to open Roanoke Valley district play against Cave Spring.

Ben Foutz rounded up the Knights to offer words of encouragement as Cave Spring went in search of it fourth victory over the Colonels this decade.
And the Knights would take the board first with a field goal in the first quarter, this second period 35 yarder by Daniel Payne gave Cave Spring a six to nothing advantage.
In the final minutes of the first half the Knights used their hurry up offense to move the ball. Jacob Lewis teams up with Brian Hamilton for the 29 yard pass play.

The two team up again to close out the first half with this 11 yard touchdown pass the Knights go into the locker room with a 13-nothing lead. And down the second ranked Colonels lose it 29 to 14.

In Danville tonight, the Pulaski County Cougars looked to get their season back on some kind of track against the George Washington Eagles.
The Cougars came into southside riding an uncharacteristic two game losing streak.

Danville mayor Ruby Archie was taking in the game supporting her Eagles, and she would get to see a good show tonight.
In the third, GW is back to punt but Pulaski comes through with the block. Lorenzo walker picks it up and runs it in for the score as Pulaski County gets on the board. But GW still led 25-to-16 at that point.
In the fourth GW's Jeremy Motley will hand of to Micah Knight. He scores from the four. And the Eagles now find themselves in front of the Cougars 32-to-16.

At City Stadium in Lynchburg, the E.C.Glass Hilltoppers hooked up with the Franklin County Eagles. Franklin County came in with a 3-and-1 mark while the Toppers came in 1-and-3.

The records may have been reversed, but make no mistake the talent balance was still in check.

A few plays later, the same man, Bowling bowls in from the 9. The Hilltoppers are now on top 23-to-7 in the third.

Jefferson Forest would give it right back as quarterback Bryan Neal fumbles the exchange and Sidney Sparrow recovers on the Lancers' 43 yard line.

The Super 7's top ranked Salem Spartans opened defense of their Blue Ridge district championship tonight as they traveled up 81 to play Rockbridge County, a team that got its first win of the season just last week.

The Wildcat was working the crowd tonight, but he put should have put on a uniform and jumped in the mix.
In the first with the Spartans on top 7-to-nothing, Andy Mullins gives it to Dennis Haley for the two yard score. It's now 14-to-nothing Salem.
Spencer Christley would then take it through the line and press out a 15 yard gain for the Spartans setting up another score.
E.J. Thomas would finish it off with the run to the far side to make it a 21-to-nothing game in favor of Salem.
The Wildcats would get on the board as Jonathan Wilson lets Bruce Cooper dive in the corner of the gola line.

Now to the game that produced the wildest finish of the night we head to Daleville where Lord Botetourt hosted its neighbors from Northside.

The third quarter in this shootout began in a 7-all tie.
Botetourt junior Anthony Ford takes the snap on a third and 17. he scrambles right and finds a wide open Austin Bousman who strides 78 yards into the Botetourt zone to make it a 14-to-7 game in favor of the Cavs.
Botetourt would come back again, but this time Ford goes to his left and he hits Kevin Lyle in the flat, he sidesteps a Viking defender and chews up 33 yards and gets another score. Botetourt has a comfortable 21-to-7 lead. Yeah right!
Here come the Vikings. Northside scores on a 16 play drive and then with 20 seconds left in the game they come calling again with a wild 5 yard scramble from junior quarterback Tommy Morgan. he scores it's 21-to-20 Cavaliers.
The Vikings play to get into overtime, but an awkward snap causes the holder to make a move for the ball. He gets it planted and the kick if good to tie the game.
But no! The officials say he raised up his knee and then touched it down causing the play to be dead.
But if you look at the replay it's a hairline call at best.
Botetourt holds on to win by a knee 21-to-20.

The Rockets would light up the scoreboard four play later as Daniel Francisco goes around the right side, cuts back and breaks a couple of tackles. he eventually drags a Bland defender in the zone. It's 6-to-nothing Craig County.
Bland's offense would jump start its offense in the second as P.J. Vaughn runs the quarterback keeper around the right side and deep into Rocket territory.

O.J. Thomason entered the end zone five times and tallied up 299 yards on 16 carries.

Before the Terriers fourth game of the season O.J. averaged nearly 12 yards each time he touched the ball.
That translated into 729 yards on 62 carries and 13 touchdowns in the first three games of the season.
Coach Highfill says O.J.'s early success is due inpart to better preparation in the off season.

O.J. is on pace to break the record NFL back Terry Kirby set at Tabb High School--7428 yards and 103 TD's in four years.
But he says that milestone is not on his mind.

O.J. Thomason has come a long way from freshman year and playing both ways to a senior year of record setting runs.

But more importantly he says he's turning his attention to the books and the goal of reaching the next level.
