The Lynchburg Region is having a hard time holding onto its' young adult population.
In fact, they are leaving the area at an alarming rate.
According to census figures, the number of 20 to 34 year olds has dropped more than 10 percent this decade in Lynchburg and seven surrounding localities.
That's four times faster than the state-wide rate.
City officials say young people aren't interested in taking well paying manufacturing jobs in the region.
And a lack of social opportunities is also a factor.

From the air, and on the ground the images were striking. A row of fence posts offset by several feet... A building collapsed upon itself... port facilities in ruins.
