A twister was reported in the Kippler Valley area between Ararat and Stuart.
It destroyed one mobile home and damaged several barns.

And a string of tornados tore through the central part of the North Carolina, destroying homes, uprooting trees, and tossing cars off the road.
The stormy weather comes as residents in the state begin the long clean up after floods brought on by Hurricane Floyd.

Along Route 696, in Campbell County, Troublesome Creek was living up to its name.. emergency officials say it took just a few minutes for the creek to overflow and cover a nearby field and bridge.
Several other spots along Lawyers Road and Waterlick Road also had problems with high water.
Amherst County officials say more than a dozen roads were closed because of high water.
Residents in the Tanglewood Mobile Home Park in Madison Heights were temporarily isolated by floodwaters.
In most places, the water has gone down, but officials remind everyone not to drive through standing or moving water.

A party that apparently got out of hand could become a campaign issue in Montgomery County.
Sheriff candidate Joe Miles says one of his campaign signs was stolen from his neighbor's yard and burned in a bonfire at a party.
The party was at a deputy's home in Christiansburg.
Sheriff Doug Mars responded last night, saying that the incident happened in town limits - which makes it out of his jurisdiction... adding that he can't control the actions of his deputies' wives.

Former Texas Governor Ann Richards was in the Star City last night raising campaign money for the Democratic party.

More than 200 people paid 50 dollars each to hear Richards speak.
