The investigation is continuing into the cause of a fatal crash on Hershberger road early Friday morning.
Residents who live along this street say it is dangerous and it's been that way for a long time.

22 year-old Donnie Yates was one of the people killed in the crash -- his father says he might have survived if there had been a guard rail.
And some residents agree that the city should put up guard rails along this road but they say most importantly motorists need to slow down.

Police believe 22 year-old Timothy Wayne Sayers was the driver of the car.
Sayers is in intensive at Roanoke Memorial Hospital.
Authorities say they plan to serve him with a warrant for manslaughter once he's released from the hospital.

A Martinsville man is now charged with capital murder for killing his uncle.
34 year Darryl Carneal Law was arrested last night on felony charges for shooting 77 year old Ernest Eggleston once in the head and twice in the chest.
Eggleston was taken to Baptist Hospital where he died from his injuries.
So far no word on a motive, the case is under investigation.

A Roanoke family lost everything this afternoon when their apartment caught on fire.

It happened shortly after 4 on the 3700 block of Sunrise avenue in Roanoke City.
Apparently Debra Mendoza was sleeping when she woke up to fire in her living room.
A neighbor spotted the fire and called 911.
Mendoza and her two children were able to get out safely however their two cats were not saved.
Officials say the apartment was a total loss and contacted the Red Cross to help out the family.

A Tech student was flown to a Roanoke hospital this afternoon after falling while rock climbing without a rope.

It happened around two P-M, along the train tracks at McCoy Falls.
Sheriff's investigators say 20- year old Michael (Kuh-vic-ee-uh) Cavicchia of South Carolina was alone when he slipped and fell.
Cavicchia suffered head and other injuries and was flown to Roanoke Memorial.
Norfolk Southern had to stop one of its trains from passing through until rescue personnel were able to clear the area-- because Cavicchia landed so close to the tracks.

AIDS fundraisers say two years ago, hundreds would have turned out to support a black tie event like this one.
