The former landfill, and the farm next door, are in Bedford County.
The farm owners have been battling the county for months, hoping it'll do something to clean up the contamination.
Tonight the Bedford County Board of Supervisors made a final decision to buy the property.

The attorney for the owners, Danny and Jimmy Adams said they will think about the offer. The Bedford County Board of Supervisors agreed to purchase the 150 acre farm for 1 point 3 million dollars. Originally the owners were asking for 1 point 8 million. The question is, is the battle between farmer and county over?

(( Last spring 8 acres of the Adams dairy farm was condemned. The landfill next to their property was closed in 1993 and later began leaking cancer-causing agents in the ground water.
In May the Adams filed a lawsuit against the county claiming they don't have the right to take the land to clean up the mess caused by the landfill.
One supervisor strongly disagreed, saying the county did nothing wrong and should not have to pay for the aftermath.

A few miles from Bedford County's Administration Building, Rubatex workers have been on the picket lines for more then a month now, and when their replacements roll by, the strikers get loud.

Scooter owners in Lynchburg need to listen. The city now wants to keep a closer eye on those motorized vehicles.

The surge in popularity of mopeds among young people has also resulted in a growing number of complaints about their use.
City council tonight voted to require scooter owners to register their vehicles and wear a helmet while riding them.
The changes won't be enforced until January in order to educate the public about the new laws.

News 7 sports has learned that Salem star running back Dennis Haley has verbally committed to the university of Virginia.

Haley has accepted a full scholarship. He has 520 yards rushing and 9 touchdowns in six game so far this season. He is projected to play defensive back or maybe linebacker at Virginia. He told his Salem team of his decision after practice Tuesday.

In the first quarter, Shawsville jumps out in front by four when Kate Childress makes the long pass to T'neece Ford who finishes underneath the iron.
Glenvar answers with a bomb of it's own. Lee Ann Woodley rips rope from the [SUPER=34-Glenvar/23/Shawsville/37;]cor
ner to cut the Lady Shawnees lead to one point.
Then, Childress gift wraps another basket, finding Ann Ryan for the bucket to extend the Lady Shawnees lead to six points. Shawsville goes on to win the game 37-23.
