The accident happened at the top of Bent Mountain, just past the fire station. Authorities say it's a good thing both cars were not going fast - or the accident could have been worse.

Some tense moments this evening at a Radford apartment complex.

Several residents at New River Overlook apartments were trapped inside when the entrance to the complex caught fire-- filling several apartment with smoke.
It happened when some Halloween decorations out front caught fire.
Fire fighters were concerned because some of the residents there are handicapped and elderly.
Several people had to be treated for smoke inhalation.
Officials say no one was seriously injured. They are currently working to find places for the residents to stay.

A U-S military plane is on a daring rescue tonight- picking up an American doctor from the South Pole.

It's feared Dr. Jerri Nielson has breast cancer.
A military plane landed on a runway carved out of ice tonight- The crew successfully picked up Nielson- and dropped off a replacement doctor.
The plane then took off for a three hour return trip to an air base on Antarctica's coast.
With polar temperatures reaching around minus 58 degrees the plane engines were kept turning to prevent the aircraft from being crippled by the extreme cold.

The Cleveland Indians fired manager Mike Hargrove today. Hargrove lead the Tribe to the American League playoffs this season before being eliminated by the Boston Red Sox in the first round. In nine years, he lead Cleveland to two world series and five divisional titles. Some say Hargrove, whose pitching staff was questionable, was not granted a fair chance to win.

Joe Nemechek recorded the fastest qualifying time at Talladega Superspeedway in a decade today when front row Joe captured the Bud pole for Sunday's Winston 500.

Nemechek had the fastest car in practice and he would go out in the middle of the pack and capture the pole position with a speed of 198 point 331 miles per hour.
Chesapeake native Ricky Rudd had a good run today. His speed of 198 point 265 miles per hour is good enough for the outside pole.
Points leader Dale Jarrett would make the top 20. He turned in a speed of 195 point 397 miles per hour good enough for the 14-th starting spot. But no one could catch Nemechek.

The clinic is free but organizers are hoping people will donate money to help Wrath star Gary Rickets who was left paralyzed after a car accident in September.
