The State Board of Elections says it's okay with the ten pilot sites picked to require voter I-Ds on election day.

In a hastily called emergency meeting today, the two Republicans and one Democrat on the board signed off on the plan.
That's after it was learned in court last night that the board's secretary, Cameron Quinn, made the selections in a meeting with Governor Jim Gilmore's Secretary of Administration, Bryan Slater.

It looks like a lava flow. But, it's really melted metal that made its way through a steel plant.

A couple of water-cooled brass valves that control air coming into the furnace came off, allowing the metal to ooze out. And it's hot .. 26 hundred degrees hot.
The plant is located in Dearborn, Michigan, just outside Detroit. Officials there say there was no explosion.
No word yet on a damage estimate or clean-up costs.

A flying dinosaur that lived between 120-and-140 million years ago, may be the missing link between graceful birds and hulking dinosaurs.

Fossil specimens of the dinosaur, about the size of a turkey with razor-sharp teeth and claws, were unveiled for the first time today in Washington .. at the National Geographic Society's Explorers Hall.
The fossils are among a group of feathered dinosaur remains recently discovered in China.
And get out your notebooks. The new species, is called "Sinornithosaurus" (sign-oh-RINTH-a-saurus.)

Thousands of people suing a major drug maker over a diet drug won't take part in a proposed settlement.

And lawyers in the fen-phen case say this threatens the resolution of one of the biggest product liability cases ever.
There was a proposed settlement of 3-point-75 billion dollars, but lawyers for thousands of plaintiffs say they are seeking higher damages, which puts any settlement in jeopardy.
Those suing American Home Products say they suffered injuries after taking the fen-phen diet drug combination.

New statistics about senior citizen's health are out and the numbers don't look good. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention says nearly one in ten Americans in their 70s or older needs help with routine chores such as bathing. Four in ten have to use walkers or hearing aids. Life expectancy for Americans at birth is 76 and a-half years. But the C-D-C says someone who reaches age 65 can expect to live to 83.
