The department says there has been confusion this year over the start of the flu season. The Centers for Disease Control says there is no conclusive evidence for an earlier than normal start to the season.

Since flu shots take one to two weeks to become effective, they are best given in October.

Stewart will be known for that sense of humor, his two US open titles, his 1989 PGA championship and his generosity. Last year he gave a half a million dollars to his home church in Orlando.
