Spangler says that's the main reason he's dropping out of the race-- Spangler made the announcement this afternoon, at his office in Pearisburg, surrounded by members of his church.
It's a decision-- Spangler had hinted at last week saying he wasn't sure he was ready to endure the pressure that comes with the job of prosecutor.

Another Buchanan County physician has pled guilty to illegally dispensing prescription drugs.
Under a plea agreement, Dan Patel submitted more than two million dollars to go toward restitution, fines, forfeitures and further investigations. Patel also agreed to see no more than 35 patients a day and to provide 100 hours of free care a year to poor patients.

More inmates from out-of-state are on their way to a southwest Virginia prison.
Connecticut is sending 500 of its prisoners to Wallens Ridge, near Big Stone Gap.
Last month, New Mexico sent 120 inmates to the maximum security prison.
Virginia's been letting other states use Wallens Ridge, because it had been just half-full.

We begin tonight with the death of a champion. PGA touring pro Payne Stewart was killed today in a bizarre plane crash in South Dakota.
The private leer jet, on which he was a passenger, took off in Orlando this morning heading for Dallas. But the plane never completely turned left.
Hours after its scheduled arrival, the plane crashed in South Dakota killing Stewart and the four others on board.

For local golfing fans who make the yearly trek to Greensboro each spring for what is now the Chrysler Classic, Stewart was a mainstay.
He nearly always took part in the celebrity pro-am that highlighted the old days when the tournament was simply known as the GGO.
Back in 1995, we caught up Stewart after he had just completed a laughable round with former Murphy Brown star Jay Thomas.
